Dissenters snatched away from fundamental human rights of safety amid global silence.
As part of ongoing pogrom against citizens affiliated with Awami League, Yunus regime first falsely implicated an eminent pediatrician Abdul Aziz on outrageous murder charges, arbitrarily detained him and thrown behind the bars.
But right after the doctor was released from jail on April 8, Yunus backed extremists were tipped off by cops and these unruly activists swooped on and ruthlessly assaulted this unarmed Awami League leader who was elected from Sirajganj constituency 3 for two terms. This weaponised legal assault and indiscriminate physical assault on legally elected lawmaker showed no human rights and safety exists for dissenters under Yunus’s reform scheme.
This meticulously designed mob violence also brought to light once again Yunus’s brutal vengeance against Awami League that includes mass killing, physical assault and illegal incarceration of hundreds of thousands of activists for their political affiliation while global rights bodies conveniently turned silent over these abuses failing to their commitments to make human rights universal.
